Exploring the Many Audiobook Narration Projects
As an audiobook narrator, Dennis’ collection is constantly growing and evolving with over 110 books available from various online sources. Recent releases include a mix of fiction and non-fiction covering a wide range of subjects. In 2022, Dennis narrated five new Sherlock Holmes themed audiobooks written by the incomparable James Lovegrove, who has been recognized as one of the closest emulators of Conan-Doyle’s writing style. He also narrated Fathers and Sons written by Alexander Waugh, grandson of Evelyn Waugh, and other of his earlier and notable non-fiction works include The Doctor Who Fooled The World, an in-depth report by Brian Deer about Andrew Wakefield, the British doctor who attempted to draw a relationship between the MMR vaccine and autism. Another exceptional historical memoir is Troublesome Young Men by Lynne Olson chronicling the rise to power of Winston Churchill as he became Britain’s war time Prime Minister. He works regularly with publishers including Blackstone Publishing and Tantor Media.
Featured Audiobook: Fathers and Sons by Alexander Waugh
If there is a literary gene, then the Waugh family most certainly has it—and it clearly seems to be passed down from father to son. The first of the literary Waughs was Arthur, who, when he won the Newdigate Prize for poetry at Oxford in 1888, broke with the family tradition of medicine. He went on to become a distinguished publisher and an immensely influential book columnist. He fathered two sons, Alec and Evelyn, both of whom were to become novelists of note (and whom Arthur, somewhat uneasily, would himself publish); both of whom were to rebel in their own ways against his bedrock Victorianism; and one of whom, Evelyn, was to write a series of immortal novels that will be prized as long as elegance and lethal wit are admired.
The result of his labors is Fathers and Sons, one of the most unusual works of biographical memoir ever written. In this remarkable history of father-son relationships in his family, Alexander Waugh exposes the fraught dynamics of love and strife that has produced a succession of successful authors. Based on the recollections of his father and on a mine of hitherto unseen documents relating to his grandfather, Evelyn, the book skillfully traces the threads that have linked father to son across a century of war, conflict, turmoil, and change. It is at once very, very funny, fearlessly candid, and exceptionally moving—a supremely entertaining book that will speak to all fathers and sons, as well as the women who love them.

Projects From the Heart
Harkening back to his South African roots, Dennis narrated and produced two apartheid related historical fiction romance and drama audiobooks, “The Zebra Affaire” (2018 Voice Arts Awards nominee) written by fellow South African, Mark Fine, set during the days of apartheid when love between different racial groups was a crime, bringing the characters to life with his impeccable performance of various South African accents and dialects. He also narrated and produced the post-apartheid novel, The Afrikaner written by Italian journalist Arianna Dagnino, who spent 5 years living in South Africa, which delves into the psychological growth of an Afrikaner woman coming to terms with her cultural history during the abolishment of apartheid.
Through all genres of audiobook subject matter, Dennis excels in delivering the truth and intention of each book he brings to audio life. His voice has been described as engaging, warm, comfortable to listen to, and well-acted and delivered. Dennis was first nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2016 in the Biography category for his work on, “Out of the Shoebox”. This story chronicles the family history of a Jewish family who moved to Israel pre-holocaust from Poland. The book is an emotional journey expertly written by Yaron Reshef as he discovers his family's history and the tragedies that befell them. Over the years, Dennis has formed close bonds with many of the authors he has worked with and many have returned to him in keeping the theme and atmosphere that he started with his audiobook narration of their novels ad manuscripts.
Dennis is strongly committed to sharing his voice and love of storytelling and continuing to bring more material to audio life.
